Roy was very gracious in the press conference thanking Drayton and the Astros organization for giving him the opportunity to pitch for the Astros. Not sure if this is the case, but when Roy was talking, he seemed pretty emotional, not really in tears.. but probably pretty close to it. He kind of had the lump in his throat...
I was guessing the contract would be 5 years for about 14 million and it works out to be about 14.6 a year. I'm happy for Roy and happy the Astros ponied up the cash to pay Roy. He's definitely worth it.
yah he was definatly emotional. I'm pissed that fox sports coudln't cover the whole press conference!****** them again!!! Was kinda funny Drayton talking about Oswalt pitching for 15 more years. Thats definatly not going to happen, Roy is a from a small town, in which everyone who lives there is probably a millionaire now after that contract. I'm sure he'll spend 5-6 playing ball and the next 40-50 sitting on his porch with a good old hound dog watching the wind blow. Grats Roy!
