All Star Fan Vote

I just noticed this..  These are two of the ads that frequent the www.mlblogs.com homepage.  This bothers me... makes me wish that the players voted for the All-Star team and not the fans.. The fans aren't voting for who deserves to make it to the All-Star game.. they are voting for who they want to see there.. Yea that might make for good T.V... but it's not how it should be done.  No way should the American League Starters be made up of 7 Yankess/Red Sox and one Dodger.  Jason Varitek is not the best catcher in the AL.. He's batting .242!  Yes defensive skills should impact some, but not to put a .242 hitter above Pudge and Pierzynski, both hitting above 300.  I don't have a problem with Ortiz getting the First Base, even though he's a DH.  How is Alex Rios not on this list?  Rios.. dude is hitting 358, slugging for over 600.  Vernon Wells should even be above those two.  The National League isn't as bad as the American League.. but Scott Rolen should not be on this list.. he's having a good year.. but Look at Miguel Cabrera..  A .444 OBP, slugging over .600 with a .356 avg.  That's an All Star right there people.  How is Soriano not on the list in the outfield.  Ya he's a sub-par outfielder, but he's hitting like a champ.  .311 avg, slugging .621  with 21 bombs.  He leads the NL outfielders in homeruns.  None of the three outfielders in the NL deserve to be there..  at least not as starters. 

Come on people.. vote who should be there.. please?  I don't have a problem with voting for someone who is 2nd or even 3rd on the list in a close race.. but when one person is by far the best person at that position.  Vote for him!
